Rolled Loft Insulation

Knauf Ecose Mineral Wool: is a newly developed product which provides the high standard of insulation without the itchiness of conventional fibreglass products. The brown layers of Knauf Mineral Wool are rolled out in the attic space between the joists and over the joists.

Knauf Mineral Wool comes in depths of 200mm, 150mm and 100mm and can be installed at the desirable level. If no insulation exists and more than 200mm is needed, two layers of insulation will be installed.

Step 1

Our technician will examine the attic space and decide on the level if insulation need. We will usually recommend that the attic insulation be brought up to 300mm or 12 inches. Therefore if 100mm of fibreglass is already in the attic, we will roll over this insulation with a further 200mm.

Step 2

Our technician roll out one layer (if no insulation already exists) between the timber joists on the floor of the attic. These are tightly fitted in place between the timbers.

Step 3

Another layer of mineral wool is rolled out over the timber joists bringing the level of insulation up to 300mm.

Step 4

Insulating tank jackets and covers are fitted to the water tanks in the attic to protect from freezing in cold conditions and a walkways to the tanks is made where necessary. Pipe lagging is also improved to protect the pipes from freezing.

Step 5

Airflex, an ultra-thin, superior quality insulating panel is fixed to the back of the trapdoor to complete the attic insulation. Finally draft proofing is fixed around the attic door to leave the attic free from heating draining drafts and with the highest level of insulation.
